Soap Creek Outfitters Whitetail Hunting
Largest buck taken with us for 2012.
The photos tell the story about Dave and the largest buck taken with us for 2012.
We had a good season in 2012 as far as the hunters seeing what they wanted to take home. Like many years we didn't get enough good deer on the ground.
We are taking only 15 to 17 hunters each year. It is still taking 3 to 4 years to draw a bow tag thanks to the Iowa politicians. Many gun hunters
will draw a tag the first year they apply.
I gain great satisfaction in getting the history of a quality buck. When a hunter is able to take the deer with hard work and a bit of luck, it is even better. We had photos of this deer in 2011. We also picked up one of his antlers in 2011. The photos are from 2011 and 2012. He had his photo taken with the same camera from the same spot both years. In 2012 he disappeared from the cameras and the hunters until Dave took him with his muzzleloader in December. Dave had seen eight bucks from 140" to 200" in one morning.
This buck wasn't in the group. This buck came out in the evening alone and offered Dave the shot. The buck had put on over 20" of length and mass from last year. His final score was over 182". Dave is one of the few hunters we had that stayed out all day no matter the temperatures. It pays off if you are patient. Click here to view more photos.
Congratulations Dave!!
